MusiCounts Announces Final Virtual Dance Party Vol III on Thursday, July 23, 2020

2020 JUNO Award Winner Meghan Patrick To Headline Event

Toronto, ON – MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity, announces Vol III of their Virtual Dance Party, presented by SiriusXM, to be held on Thursday, July 23 at 8pm EST. The virtual party will be held on MusiCounts Facebook Live and headlined by 2020 JUNO Award winner for Canadian Country Album of the Year, Meghan Patrick. Additional special guests will include emerging Canadian country artist, Sacha, and 2019 MusiCounts Scholarship recipient, Cassidy Taylor.

"The MusiCounts Virtual Dance Party series was created to combine fun, music and philanthropy during these uncertain times” said Kristy Fletcher, Executive Director, MusiCounts. “We are grateful for the passionate artists who have supported us, and who believe in the importance of music education for all youth in Canada.”

MusiCounts has raised almost $5,000 to date from the Virtual Dance Party series. Past participants included JUNO Award winner and platinum selling artist Kiesza, JUNO Award winners Loud Luxury, Frank Walker, Young Bombs, COCANINA, and MusiCounts Scholarship recipients, Babylung and Sergei Kofman.

Music has the power to bring people and communities together to share experiences, hardships and stories. During the COVID-19 pandemic, MusiCounts continues to encourage music educators and students to use music to understand and connect with each other in meaningful ways.

Last year, MusiCounts could only support 16% of schools that were in urgent need of new instruments. Due to anticipated budget cuts in the Fall, MusiCounts wants to ensure that future generations don't lose out on music education. MusiCounts believes that music education is an essential part of young people’s lives. All donations received from the Virtual Dance Party series will help provide new instruments to build and sustain music programs across Canada.

If you are unable to join the Virtual Dance Party this Thursday, please consider making a donation by texting ‘MUSIC’ to 45678 or by visiting musicounts.ca/party

They have contributed more than $1,000,000 towards music education, putting instruments in over 100 schools and into the hands of thousands of children across Canada. Thank you SiriusXM Canada
